Speaking of HTML...
I've been running 1600 x 1200 on a CRT for a while now. (It's good for doing graphics) Anyway,
if it is becoming more and more common...

My own site came up for renewal and I let them.
The original reason for the site did not pan
out; still it can't hurt to have big server space
on hand...

--PROPOSAL--
I've the inclination to make such a portal. To
avoid non-human access to it a custom font
would have to be installed (only once). The font
would work in any system. Non-humans would see
only a brief explanation, the link and a frameset
of gibberish. Posts using other fonts could be
rejected, if the linked sites wish.

One site, many rooms:-))
Thoughts?

P.S.
Maybe assume a all-access pass for posts sent
with the spider.

Geminga writes:

OIh, yes, the HTML *itself* would be written in
the custom font. To a machine, there would be no
recognizable <A> or SRC= strings.

geminga,

re:"The font would work in any system."

You are mistaken in that assumption.

Arachne _can not_ use someone else's fonts.

She requires her own font set.

What ARE the best formats for me to use to allow

IMO,

Truecolor .BMP is the only way to go.

What say you, Jake ?

Thu, Oct 11, 2007 - 6:02:51 pm UK local time
Jake writes:

TIFF would be what's usually used, but for "normal"
people BMP would be more appropriate.

In truth, JPEGs with small amounts of compression are
very good. If you've got large areas of similar colour
e.g. blue sky, then use minimal compression. If a polarizer
has been used, you'll get banding across the sky if you
use JPEGs, but for other shots you can save 70 - 90% of
the filespace.

You could send them a LiveCD of Grafpup Linux... or a DOS
boot disk and a copy of SEA.

If they are high quality, high resolution B&W photos

Then IMO it becomes even more important to use a
format which is 'lossless'.

Therefore... Jpeg is definately out.

I would like to embed a link in a photo for my website. How is that done? Is it like an alt image text? only a link?

Sun, Apr 13, 2008 - 10:39:54 am UK local time
Jake writes:

If you mean you want to make the image clickable, see:
catcode.com/linkguide/clickimage.html

If you want to add EXIF and/or IPTC info there's Exifer, IrfanView (IPTC only),
ExifEditor etc., with which you can embed your copyright and contact info.

You can also visibly watermark the photo - I would use a caption and file ID
instead of just a copyright declaration.

wow, thanks.

i wanted clickable, however EXIF is good to know.

"caption and file ID"?

Sun, Apr 13, 2008 - 6:54:20 pm UK local time
Jake writes:

Caption and file ID: if you simply use a copyright watermark it seems to
take over the page if you've got a gallery of images, but is far more acceptable
if you include a caption and file ID. You only need to add the file ID if you want
to license the photo (it'll help the customer and you to identify it).
